Development Services Director Derick Braaten announced that Rita Osborne officially resigned from her position as commission chair due to personal reasons. Osborne had recently started her second term on the Planning Commission prior to her resignation. She previously served as vice chair and was promoted to chair in 2012. "She's really put in a lot of time here over the years," Braaten said. "When someone asks'why we go through commissioners?' I generally tell them that it's not so much the commission, but it's life. Life gets involved." Current vice chair Larry Bowman is expected to be promoted to chair. The commission will vote to fill Bowman's position at its next meeting. Braaten said he would reach out to residents who previously "When someone asks 'why we go through commissioners?' I generally tell them that it's not so much the commission, but it's life. Life gets involved." Airway Heights Development Services Director Derick Braaten filled out applications to see if they are still interested in joining the commission. In action items, the commission voted 3-0 to ap- prove two resolutions, the first being their recom- mended priorities to the city. Recommendations include the Highway 2 Revitalization and Safety Concept Plan, updating zoning and land-use codes, focusing on quality of life, reviewing the animal ordinance and implementing a signage program to help residents find locations around the city. The second resolution amends the city's municipal code section 2.20.050 "Planning Commission's Duties and Responsibilities." Osborne and Commissioner Mat- thew Pederson were absent from the meeting. The commission received an update on the High- way 2 Safety and Revitalization Concept Plan. Braaten said the city received a lot of feedback from . businesses and residents regarding what they would like to see on the concept plan. "We will continue to reach out to the public," Braaten said. "We've never really had this much feedback before, but we also haven't put this much effort into public outreach in the past." The commission will have a public workshop April 8 to discuss the concept plan and a special April 22 workshop with the Parks Advisory Board. They are expected to make a recommendation to the City Coun- cil on the Highway 2 concept plan in May.
