ORDINANCE C-846 Third Reading of Ordinance C-846, amending sections oi the Airway Heights Municipal Code chapters 5.14 and 17.14, regarding medical cannabis cooperatives and medical cannabis dispensaries open to the public, in order to ac- commodate the new standards established through SB 5052, the "Cannabis Patient Pro- tection Act". Summary: On May 26, 2015, the City Coun- cil adopted CC Ordinance C- 856, establishing an emergency moratorium. The intent of this moratorium is to ensure the City's adopted standards will not create a conflict with new state regulations regarding medical cannabis production, process- ing, and dispensing, established through SB 5052, the "Cannabis Patient Protection Act", signed by Governor Jay Inslee on April 24, 2015. At this time, there are no established medical cannabis cooperatives, production, pro- cessing, or dispensing facilities, other than private individuals doing so for their own use. Staff projects that the required codes changes should be amended to reflect the new standards by July 6, 2015. Sections of SB 5052 went into effect immediately upon the Governor's signature, others take effect on July 24, 2015, and still others take effect July 1, 2016, This ordinance may be viewed in its entirety at the City of Airway Heights, 1208 S. Lund- strom St., Airway Heights, WA during normal business hours. The full text of the ordinance will be mailed upon request.
