NEIGHBOR NEWS Thursday, December 3, 2015 CHURCHES Cheney United Church of Christ Cheney UCC invites you to join us for services, lead by pastor David Krueger-Duncan Sunday, Dec. 6 and throughout the Advent season. The lesson this week will focus on the wreath. Christianity historically re-purposes things in preference to rejecting things. How did the wreath become part of the Christmas tradition? Special music will be provided by Mikaela Elm. The lunch bunch meets on Thursday, Dec. 10 at noon. Bring a dish to share to the fellowship hall if you wish to join us. Men's breakfast is scheduled at 7:45 a.m. on Dec. 13 at Marketplace Cheney. Women's fellowship will meet at the church on Dec. 13 following services. Our social-wellness walking group continues to meet at the church at 9 a.m. each Thursday. Join us regardless of your walking pace. Everyone is welcome to attend any of our services or activities at the CheneyUCC as we celebrate the Advent season. Emmanuel Lutheran Church All are welcome to worship with us this Sunday, Dec. 6 at 10:30 a.m. for our "Hanging of the Greens" worship service. During this service we will decorate the sanctuary and tree for Christmas. You may also watch our pastor's sermons on our website www.emmanu- or on YouTube at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Cheney. Christian education for grade school through adults begins at 9 a.m. Upcoming events: Dec. 9 is mid-week Advent soup supper and worship. St. Paul's Episcopal Church A welcoming haven, nourishing all God's people in body, mind and spirit. Holy Communion is Sunday at 11 a.m. when the Rev. Christine Soule will preach and preside. Attention all college students: join us each Mondayat 5 p.m. for dinner, discussion, study and devotions.
